Portable Tabletop Propane Griddle

Why Buy a Portable Gas Griddle?

These smaller models work really well for camping, picnics or tailgaters. They are compact and lightweight, yet you can cook up to 12 burgers at once on this tabletop griddle.

Not to mention, you can level up your meals with more gourmet (yet simple) dishes. For example, stir fry vegetables, crab cakes, omelettes or small appetizers that would otherwise fall through BBQ grills.

Even with the less expensive version, you get instant push-button ignition for easy cooking. Plus, it has a built-in grease trap to collect excess drippings. As a result, clean-up is easier too.

Note: This portable tabletop model doesn’t come with a lid or cover. However, the manufacturer cleverly designed the cook plate to act as a cover. Simply turn the griddle plate upside down when transporting to act as a cover for the grill!

Compact Griddle Can Accommodate Different Cooking Zones:

Although the portable Tacklife griddle is smaller than other outdoor gas griddles, it still provides a large cooking area. In fact, the cook top measures almost 2 feet wide by 2 feet deep.

3 Stainless Steel Burners for Multiple Cooking Zones on Gas Table Top Griddle

In addition, it has 3 separate burners that you can adjust independently of each other. As a result, you can create different cooking zones on the griddle and grill a variety of foods simultaneously.

By the way, the burners are made of steel, so they’ll last a long time without rusting. Compared to cast iron burners on cheaper grills, you won’t have to replace them nearly as often. (A nice cost saver!)

Tacklife VS Blackstone VS the Camp Chef Portable Griddle:

Portable Flat Top Grill - How to Take Your Griddle withYou on the RoadCamp Chef makes a similar portable flat top griddle that sits on top of a table. The cook plate is slightly larger, and the device has 7,000 BTU’s. However, it has 2 burners instead of 3 and costs about $50-60 more than the Tacklife.

Alternatively, the Blackstone 1666 Tabletop Griddle that may be the cheapest table griddle of all. However, it offers a slightly smaller cooking space and only 2 burners. That said, by the review, most people prefer this unit best.

Propane Adapter Hose to Connect Portable Griddles to 20-lb Gas TanksNote: All 3 table top models can run off a small 1 lb propane bottle or a 20-lb tank. Of, course the larger tank will save you money over time, but you’ll need to buy a propane adapter hose to connect it to the griddle.

This hose enables you to easily connect your tabletop griddle to the larger sized tank and only costs $12-$25, depending on the length. The good news is that the Tacklife Griddle already comes with this hose adapter!

How to Season, Clean & Maintain Your Griddle:

Before you cook on your griddle for the first time, you want to “season” it. This helps to create a non-stick surface and prep the plate for cooking.

Griddle Scraper - Good for Cleaning Your Tabletop Grill & Food PrepFirst, heat the cooktop and spread cooking oil evenly over the griddle (even the inner sidewalls). Then, let the oil burn off and remove any excess with a scraper. (Scrapers also come in handy for griddling and food prep as well.)

Repeat these steps 2-3 times. This can take 20-30 minutes. The griddle surface should turn darker by the time you’ve finished. Now, you’re done with the initial seasoning process.

Each time after you cook, you want to maintain your seasoned griddle with a few steps:

Step 1: When you finish grilling, turn the griddle to high, scrape water on the plate and scrape off any excess food. Steam helps loosen any stuck-on debris.

Step 2: Wipe your griddle clean and then add a light coat of cooking oil to seal the top until your next use. I use a paper towel to both clean the griddle and spread the oil.
